Excel Video 499 Turn on Power View in Excel 2016

Mar 14, 2016Business Intelligence, Excel 2016

Welcome to Excel Video 499. We’re just one video away from 500. I hope you saw the notification earlier today about the contest and giveaway celebrating 500 Excel Videos.

You’ll note that I’ve upgraded to Office 2016 based on my Office 365 Pro Plus subscription. I get the Pro Plus version to have access to Business Intelligence tools to better analyze data. We’ll talk more about those tools in future Excel Videos. Today’s task is to get Power View back on the Ribbon in Excel 2016. I’ll show you how to add a Power View icon to the ribbon. Adding the icon to the Ribbon should enable the Power View add-in for you without any additional steps. Also watch for changes to the other Business Intelligence tools in Office 2016, especially 3D Maps. As soon as I finish discussing Power View, 3D Maps is next. The good news is that 3D Maps (formerly Power Map) is now available in the standard versions of Excel. You don’t need the Pro Plus version to map your data in Excel 2016.

We’ll get back to Power View charting tricks in the next Excel Video. I look forward to seeing you then.
