Excel Video 54 is a straight-forward demonstration of how the Top or Bottom Rules work in Conditional Formatting. It’s easy to format the highest or the lowest items in a list, or with one click, you can highlight the highest or lowest percentage of values in a list. My physicians always like to know who’s leading in collections year-to-date, so I format the highest 1 item in my list of collections to show them who is in the lead.
The other trick you’ll see in the video is that when you select a range of cells in Excel 2007, Excel automatically averages, counts, and sums numerical values in the range. If for some reason you’d like to know the maximum or minimum values as well, right click the status bar (the area where the average, count, and sum is displayed in my example) and check the information you’d like to see.
