The code dddd mmm d, yyy may not mean anything to you now, but it will after watching Excel Video 218. I’ll walk through several date formatting options today. You’ll see how to use the d code to get a date to show up as 1, 01, Mon, or Monday. Watch how to use the m code to display 1, 01, Jan, or January. The y code will get you either a two digit year or a four digit year. You can use the codes multiple times in a variety of ways to get just the date format you need.
Also watch for a trick to display negative numbers in red and/or in parentheses at the start of the video. When you have a long list of numbers and want to catch negative numbers, here’s an easy to do it without conditional formatting.
