Excel Video 313 Calculated Fields in Pivot Tables Part 1
Here’s a third way to make calculations with Pivot Table Data
Excel Video 313 introduces a third way to make calculations with Pivot Table data. Calculated fields take a little longer to set up, but if you’re going to use your Pivot Table over the long term, calculated fields are time well spent. The menu to get to the Insert Calculated Field window changed from Excel 2007 to Excel 2010 so watch for the different ways to get to the window. Once you get to the Insert Calculated Field window, the method to create a calculation inside a Pivot Table is the same in Excel 2007 and 2010.
Notice how much more flexible and powerful a calculated field is compared to the formulas we’ve worked with in earlier Excel Videos, especially when you change the row and column labels. There are a couple of tricks to using calculated fields. We’ll discuss those tricks in the next Excel Video. Thanks for watching.
