What insights are available to you by combining your appointment data with patients’ medication lists?

Today’s BIG Idea starts with a project I did last week.  A practice that knew that the pandemic had resulted in a shortage of a key medication.  Since supplies were limited, the practice needed to know who was taking the medication and when their next appointment was to care for these patients.  What insights would combining appointment data with your medication lists provide?  Are there patients whose last appointment was too long ago given the medication they are on?  Are there patients who need a lab or other test based on the medication list?  How could combining appointment data with patients’ medication lists result in better quality care for your patients?
