Today’s BIG Idea is a project for a specialty practice that administers expensive medications.  The pharmaceutical manufacturer offers a copay assistance program to patients who do not have government insurance.  The practice came up with a clever to track the copay assistance program by creating a payer called copay assistance.  The copay assistance payer is assigned as a secondary or tertiary insurance for patients who are enrolled in the program.  The trick was to find patients eligible for the copay assistance program that were not enrolled and set up in the practice management system.  Listen to today’s podcast to learn how they combined multiple data sources to get an automatically refreshing spreadsheet to solve their challenge.  How might your practice mine data to reduce accounts receivable and help your patients?
