Today’s BIG Ideas podcast is based on a project I am working on for a client in the West.  The practice administrator is relatively new.  He knows he needs to work on payer contracting, but the practice doesn’t have all of the contract information readily available.  The next problem is that the adjustment data entered into the practice management system does not easily allow us to accurately calculate allowed amounts.  Rather than wait months if not longer for better data, we devised some metrics to at least point us in the right direction to which contracts to analyze and why.  Listen to today’s podcast for ideas on how to resolve a similar payer contracting issue in your practice, but also listen for ideas for making decisions with less than perfect data.  Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good, or especially the enemy of getting started.
