Excel Video 121 demonstrates some additional things you can do with a speedometer chart. We’re not going to get into all of the details and work through complicated examples, but I do want you to see how you can add an outer dial to a speedometer to show labels like 10, 20, 30, etc. I’d also like you to see how if you make the pie chart bigger than the doughnut piece of the chart, you can make the needle go outside of the pie, closer to the number labels. Like the overall speedometer charts, this isn’t critical, but seeing what can be done and understanding how to create special effects in Excel charts will be helpful in many other charting applications.
