Lesson 15 demonstrates how to refresh Pivot Table data. It’s critical to realize that once Excel creates a Pivot Table, it doesn’t automatically go back to look at or refresh the data the Pivot Table is based on. Instead, Excel keeps the original data in the Pivot Table until you specifically ask Excel to refresh the data. If the data is on a server or other source that takes a lot of time or resources to update, you only want to refresh the data periodically.

The video shows how to refresh Pivot Table data on demand and how to set up the spreadsheet to automatically refresh each time the spreadsheet is loaded. You can combine these options and a knowledge of how often the data changes to choose an optimal strategy for keeping your Pivot Table current without tying up network resources or waiting too long for Excel to refresh the data.

Thanks for watching.
