Excel Video 154 is short and easy. I’ll introduce two functions, FIND and LEN. FIND looks for a text string inside another text string. I use FIND to look for text inside a cell, and the most common thing I look for is a comma that separates a last name from a first name. Be sure to put the comma or whatever else you’re looking for in quotes. FIND is case-sensitive. If you need a function that is not case sensitive (find A or a), try SEARCH.
LEN is even easier. LEN simply calculates the length, or number of characters, in a text string. Spaces count as characters.
Stay tuned. Both FIND and LEN will be very helpful in upcoming Excel Videos.
