Excel Video 230 shows how easy it is to get data from the internet into your Excel spreadsheet. If you’re downloading static data on a one-time basis, you can save time by having Excel enter the data for you. Not only does importing the data beat typing the data into Excel, but when Excel goes out to the internet to get your data, it doesn’t just copy the data, it creates a link to the web site so you can refresh your data. If you’re pulling dynamic data like stock or mutual fund prices, you can even tell Excel to go out to the internet and update the data every time you open the spreadsheet. If you’re used to going online and typing in data every week, this could save you a ton of time.
