Watch Excel Video 256 for two fast ways to sum data, one of the most common things to do in Excel. Today I’ll show you two quick ways, a sum icon you can click on or a Alt+= shortcut to type. Part of the reason the shortcuts save time is Excel takes its best guess for the data you want to sum. If Excel guesses correctly, and it usually does, you don’t have to type =SUM( or enter the range of cells to sum. If Excel has two options of data ranges to choose from and it chooses incorrectly, it’s just a matter of selecting the correct cell range instead. The sum shortcuts are a great trick.
