Excel Video 58 introduces the idea of multiple conditional formatting rules applied to the same range of cells. For example, the video highlights a range of cells using color scales and then wants to bold the highest cell value in the range. Excel Video 58 introduces the Conditional Formatting Rules Manager, the way Excel keeps track of all of the conditional formatting rules for a given range of cells.
When the formatting rules do not conflict, such as changing the cell fill and the font color, the conditional formatting works just fine. When the formatting rules conflict, like trying to make the same cell’s fill black and red at the same time, you have to tell Excel which rule you want to apply first. We’ll work through an example of conflict formatting rules in the next video.
