Today’s BIG idea is a project I’m starting for a group on the west coast. It is well worth your time to analyze your payer contracting data. What are your most important procedure codes, who are your most important payers, and how do those payers’ reimbursements compare? A secondary benefit of performing that kind of analysis is that it gives you perspective on your revenue cycle that you may not have seen before. As you analyze what you are getting paid, you may discover a stack of claims where you did not get paid.
