I have two more Data Label tricks in Excel Video 448. First, watch for a way to use cells outside of my chart as Data Labels. In today’s example I’ve characterized the data as High, Avg, or Low using formulas to see if the data point is significantly higher or lower than average. Once I add that data as a Value From Cells, I can incorporate outside data into my chart. This trick may be especially helpful for charts connected to outside data in SQL Server that automatically refresh. By writing the formulas carefully, I can make the custom Data Labels on my chart automatically update when the data refreshes.
Also watch for a new way to change what the Data Labels look like. The change starts to look like a new feature in Excel 2013, Data Callouts. We’ll review Data Callouts in the next Excel Video. Thanks for watching.
